First short-term joint staff training for the Football Makes History project

The first 3-day thematic workshop within the Football Makes History project will take place from 1-3 February in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The central theme of the workshop will be discrimination and anti-semitism. The Anne Frank House will be the workshops’ host, regarding its unique position in the world as a place of memory and responsibility to prevent discrimination world-wide. The programme of the workshop will include interesting presentations by experts on discrimination, insight into the Anne Frank House’s FanCoach project and group sessions on the development of educational material using football as a door opener to address issues of discrimination.

Third short-term joint staff training for the Learning 2 Disagree project

On 17-20 January 2019 the partners of the project Learning to Disagree, along with all the core team members will come together in Maynooth, Ireland for a short term staff training. The meeting aims to present the work made so far on the collection of Viewpoints on the first three topics: people on the move, borders and living under pressure. The meeting will serve also as the starting point for the collection of Viewpoints on the next topics and as update on what has been developed by partners on the other outputs so far.

Online Now: Council of Europe Pestalozzi Training Programme 2016

The PESTALOZZI Programme , the Council of Europe’s programme for the professional development of teachers and education actors has published their programme for 2016. With 25 new events and activities for the coming year, the programme certainly has a lot to offer. The programme starts with a European workshop in Romania “Tolerance and respect for European values: For an intercultural Europe” at the end of March and runs through to November with the European workshop “Active learning strategies for the development of functional literacy” which takes place in Belarus, with many other workshops, national events, summer schools and trainer training courses in between. Please find an overview of activities in 2016 here.

From 29-31 August, 2016, the International Society for History Didactics (ISHD) hosts its conference on ‘History Teacher Education Facing the Challenges of Professional Development in the 21st Century’ in Trabzon, Turkey.  This ISHD conference will focus on history teacher education and will provide an international platform where the latest trends and issues, discussions and challenges in the international field of history teacher education can be presented and discussed.

For this conference the ISHD calls for papers. For more information on the central points of the conference’s discussions, please find the overview here (.pdf). Proposals for papers are to be submitted in English, through the ISHD application form. The deadline for applications is 10 January 2016.
