2015 a European Year of Industrial and Technical Heritage

E-Faith, the European federation of organisations engaged in industrial heritage announced 2015 to be the European Year of Industrial and Technical Heritage. An exemplary activity to honour this year can be found in Flanders. In 1975, the old jenever distillery in Hasselt became the first industrial building to be officially protected and awarded the status of monument in Flanders. In honour of the European Year of Industrial and Technical Heritage, the Flemish Association for Industrial Archaeology (VVIA) has set up a special exhibition to celebrate the forty years of industrial heritage. The exhibition will travel around Flanders and be displayed at symbolic industrial locations. For more information on the exhibition, visit the VVIA website.
