In the Sharing History, Cultural Dialogues project educators from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine worked together on the development of a multilingual teacher and student book titled “Crossroad of Cultures. Countries of the Black Sea Region and social and political changes in the 19th and 20th centuries”. The books are organized in three parts: cultural heritage, culture and politics, and family and everyday life. Each part consists of ten learning activities that are source-based, learner-centered and that use active learning methods.
Throughout the project the partners worked together intensively on training, research, drafting, peer-review, mentoring, piloting, editing, design, map-making, translation and proofreading. More than a hundred people from over twenty countries have contributed to the development process. The fact that the team working on this project has been able to develop and agree on this publication despite the language barriers, and cultural and political sensitivities, demonstrates a strong willingness of the educators communities in the project to work together across borders.
The project has resulted in:
After the project had ended, all project partners expressed an interest to continue to cooperate and do more transnational work. The partners have presented the national language versions of the publications to their respected networks. It is our wish to make the students and teacher book also available in English and to use it for further trainings.
The educational resources and the external review will be available online as soon as possible. If you are interested in our special reports, dealing with cultural education in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Moldova, please contact Aysel Gojayeva (Project Manager).
