SUMMARY:Time to Think Webinar #3: Using Thinking Routines to Foster Perspective-Taking
DESCRIPTION:(Historical Thinking Concepts: Historical Perspectives and the Ethical Dimension) \nThis webinar examines how thinking routines can support students in developing historical perspective-taking\, an important skill for understanding the complexity of past events. Drawing on concepts like historical perspectives and the ethical dimension\, the session explores how students can learn to recognise that people in the past acted within specific contexts\, values\, and constraints. \nThinking routines provide structured opportunities for students to explore and compare different viewpoints within historical narratives. By guiding reflection and dialogue\, these routines encourage students to consider how historical actors might have understood their situations and how different interpretations of the past emerge. \nThe webinar will present strategies that use thinking routines to help students analyse diverse perspectives\, reflect on the relationship between past and present values\, and engage in thoughtful discussion about historical and civic issues. While the conceptual framework of historical perspectives informs the discussion\, the central focus of the session is the development of students’ skills in analysing viewpoints\, engaging in dialogue\, and reflecting critically on historical narratives. \nRegistration

SUMMARY:Time to Think Webinar #4: Using Thinking Routines to Strengthen Historical Inquiry
DESCRIPTION:(Historical Thinking Concepts: Historical Significance and Cause & Consequence) \nThis webinar focuses on the role of thinking routines in supporting historical inquiry and questioning\, key skills for meaningful engagement with the past. Drawing on concepts like historical significance and cause and consequence\, the session explores how students can learn to ask deeper questions about historical events\, processes\, and interpretations. \nThinking routines can help structure inquiry by encouraging students to generate questions\, reflect on possible explanations\, and connect different pieces of information. Through these routines\, students are guided to consider why certain events or actors are considered historically significant and how different causes and consequences shape historical developments. \nThe webinar will present classroom strategies that use thinking routines to promote curiosity\, structured inquiry\, and critical reflection. Although historical thinking concepts provide an important analytical framework\, the main emphasis of the session is on developing students’ skills in questioning\, investigating\, and constructing informed historical explanations. \nRegistration
