Common history syllabus for African students

Johannesburg – United Nations historians, education specialists and governments are now developing a common history syllabus for schools across the African continent in an effort to ensure that African youth learn about their common heritage. The new syllabus is to be based on the book entitled 'General History of Africa', an eight-volume series written from an African perspective and published by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Black History Parade and Assembly Makes History While Teaching History

It was the first time the Black youth of North Lawndale witnessed a Black History parade that marched through their neighborhood. The parade, which started at 16th and Kedzie, spread joy and pride throughout the area on February 27th, near the end of Black History Month. Students from Penn Elementary School—and other schools as well—marched with their parents alongside the parade while singing and cheering.
