Black History Month used as teaching tool

Many schools have committees that plan events for every grade level, while teaching teams and individual teachers are finding ways to incorporate black history across disciplines. Districts have found that Black History Month offers extra opportunities to reinforce character education and expand service learning projects begun to observe Martin Luther King Day in January.The month serves to bolster self-esteem among minorities and inspire children of all races and ethnicities, educators believe.
