The 2010 Annual Conference takes place at Sheffield Hallam University on 14th and 15th May 2010. The intensive Conference Programme will offer two days of interactive workshops, round table discussion on “Does Content Matter?” and aims to involve a great line up of international speakers. At the end of January, the Historical Association is launching an exciting new competition in partnership with Dreamworks for children of primary school age (Aged 7 – 11). The competition celebrates the release of the new Dreamworks animated film How To Train Your Dragon which will be in cinemas from March 30th in the UK and around a similar time in Europe. The film centres around a young Viking named Hiccup, who lives in a world of dragon-slaying. We thought it would be fun for pupils to be able to compare the portrayal of the Vikings in the film to how they really lived. We are asking pupils to produce a presentation that compares the Vikings from the film to the real Vikings. We would welcome entries from other countries and the winning entry will receive tickets for them and their class to a special screening of the film. I attach the press release for further details.
