Cyprus - Activities

The seminar  turned out a great success as it was attended by 90 participants across the divide. It aimed to offer professional capacity building based on the theme of inter-culturalism and diversity, respect, tolerance and social justice, critical use of heritage, to provide international training by experienced consultants of a wide group of history educators including the team members and to explore opportunities for cross-community Cypriot dialogue and partnership. It also aimed to strengthen the existing local network and NGO team from all the ethnic groups of Cyprus, across the divide, which takes responsibility to co-operate and create innovative and appropriate teacher support, supplementary materials and to strengthen and support the professionalization of Cypriot history educators Associations and build opportunities for on-going links and dialogue.

History on wall charts in a European perspective PDF Print E-mail
NGO's - Dutch National Museum of Education

 In 2-3 April 2009 the Dutch National Museum of Education in cooperation with the Dansk Skolemuseum of Copenhagen, the Forschungsstelle Schulwandbilder of the University of Würzburg will organize a congress in Würzburg within the project "Europe and identity. History on wall charts in a European perspective", whose goal is to promote an intercultural dialogue and reflect upon a common European identity. With the use of wallcharts, the project will make the audience aware of the similarities and differences within the types of education that have been taught in the various European member states over the last century. For the congress specialists on education, history education, (European and national) identity and wall charts from different member states are invited and will present lectures and workshops. Contributions from Dr. Karl Catteeuw (Belgium),  prof.dr. Walter Müller (Germany) and prof.dr. Maria del Mar del Pozo Andrés (Spain) have been promised. Experts and stakeholders in the field of history and heritage education met in The Hague on November 20-21 2009 to discuss the project of an online educational tool on the transnational and cross-border aspects of European history is going to be implemented by EUROCLIO. Diversity in Serbian curriculum PDF Print E-mail

 The History Teachers Association of Serbia is proud to announce that they were offered by an independent publisher to proceed with the writing of a textbook addressed to the sixth grade of Elementary School in Serbia. This textbook deals with the Middle Ages period, and , according to the Serbian curriculum, this means both national/regional and European history. The textbook covers the period since the fall of Western Roman Empire (476.a.c). till the "discovery" of the New World 1492.a.c. The Serbian HTA is warmly supported by EUROCLIO and its wider network and await to receive the best examples of textbooks from their teaching practice and  the latest editions dealing with this subject. According to the Serbian HTA, this textbook will certainly be an important step forward in modernization of education materials/textbooks.
