 Founded in Rotterdam, May 12 2006, the Centre for Historical Culture provides an intellectual forum for Dutch and international scholars, and attracts highly promising graduate students to Erasmus University. It establishes links with schools, heritage institutions and history association.

EUROCLIO is delighted to announce that Maria Grever, Professor of Theory and Methodology of History, and director of the Center for Historical Culture at Erasmus University Rotterdam, has been elected as Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). KNAW annually elects 27 new members on the basis of scientific achievement, through the intercession of the scientific community. Members of the Academy are leading scientists, working in all areas of scientific research. Prof. Maria Grever is a Member of the Advisory Board for the Historiana initiative within the Project “Exploring European History and Heritage” and gave a very well appreciated lecture “In Search of Commonality. History and Plurality in Multicultural Classes” during the EUROCLIO-VGN Annual Conference in Nijmegen, the Netherlands in March 2010.

Heritage Education, Plurality of Narratives and Shared Historical Knowledge PDF Print E-mail

The Center for Historical Culture of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, has been financed by the Netherlands Organization of Scientific Research / NWO for a three years Research program on Heritage Education, Plurality of Narratives and Shared Historical Knowledge. This program will examine heritage education in a culturally diverse and globalizing society can contribute to the production of shared historical knowledge. EUROCLIO together with the Netherlands Institute for Heritage will collaborate with CHC together with an Advisory Committee of seven academic experts will oversee the progress and intellectual output of the program during regular meetings with researchers and applicants.
