Overall aim To support the regional development of History and Citizenship Education in Croatia and Federation of Serbia and Montenegro to promote Collaborative Values, Critical Awareness and Mutual Respect, Peace, Stability and Democracy.
Targets areas
- To enhance the quality of history education in Croatia and Federation of Serbia and Montenegro and make it contribute to reconciliation.
- To enhance national and international cooperation, communication and network of history educators in Croatia and Federation of Serbia and Montenegro.
- To reinforce civic society in Croatia and Federation of Serbia and Montenegro by creating sustainable and professional History Teachers’ Associations.
Aims and objectives of the project
- Reinforce the network of academic historians and history educators in Croatia and Federation of Serbia and Montenegro, able and willing to take their share and responsibility for peace and stability in the region.
- Reinforce independent, strong, active and professional History Teachers’ Organisations in Croatia and Federation of Serbia and Montenegro, able and willing to take responsibility and ownership on a national and regional level.
- Produce, disseminate and implement innovative materials for teaching history from a regional perspective enhancing living together.
- Create a group of up to date trained teacher trainers and teachers with ample capacities in implementing democratic skills and practice in history education.
- Strengthen awareness for the need of innovative history curricula respecting diversity in society.
- Strengthen awareness for the dire necessity for the international dimension in history education.
- Create a responsibility among authorities, media and history educators for the possible impacts of school history on society.
- Generate recognition of politicians, national and international authorities and media that history educators are important partners in the educational reform process.
- Increase professional, diplomatic and management skills of history educators and their organisations. Enrich national and international cooperation and mutual understanding.
