Thanks to the ’Tolerance Building through History Education in Georgia’ project, Georgian history educators with language skills and working in the project team get the opportunity to participate in international events dealing with history education. This summer Amiran Jamagidze, history teacher and school director in Tbilisi, attended the 21st Annual Conference of the School’s History Project at the Leeds Trinity and All Saints College in the UK, from 3 to 5 July 2009. Madonna Mikeladze, history teacher in Batumi and president of the GAHE‘s branch in Adjara region, was invited to the Summer Days of the History Teachers Association in Latvia which took place in Kuldiga in July 27-31, 2009. Both had a very fruitful experience of cross-border exchange and got inspired by their colleagues from other countries. Amiran Jamagidze felt he got acquainted there with “the newest methods of studying history” and was particularly interested by presentations on the use of modern technologies in history teaching. Madonna Mikeladze felt very honoured to be the only foreigner and guest among the members of the Latvian HTA. Her journey was very productive, even to that extent that she decided to organise a similar event in her region.
