During this conference, Ineke Veldhuis-Meester (editor of the Historiana programme) and Steven Stegers (Senior manager at EUROCLIO) presented the Historiana pilot website to discuss with the participant what could be further improved and to what extend the current design meets their needs. This occasion was the first time Historiana was presented to a group of educators online. Together with the Royal Dutch History Institute (KNHG), the Dutch Association for History and Civil Society Educators (VGN) is organizaing "The classroom, science and the world The global perspective in education and research". This event will take place on the 30th or March in the Royal Dutch Library in The Hague.

The adoption of new scientific views is often slowly adopted in education. This is a disadvantage for the teaching of history, because these new views are able to maintain the subject of history not only topical but also meaningful in the classroom. If new scientific views are adopted in education too slowly there is a risk that the significance of history in the classroom will diminish. Likewise, the scientific study of history has great importance in good and intensive contact with its educational counterpart. The use and meaning of academic historical writing lies increasingly with educating all layers of society. History education can provide the new, relevant questions to academic world. It is the historians responsibility to prove its use and necessity in the classroom.
