On the 13th of January almost all schools, different institutions and enterprises participated in the traditional civil initiative “The Memory is live because it proclaims” initiated by The International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania. On the 13th January the Freedom Defenders Day at eight o’clock in the morning the memory candles were lighted in the windows for ten minutes to let people feel the consolidation of Lithuanian nation that was especially strong on the day of 13th January, 1991. The flames reminded the tragic days when the Lithuanian society was united by strong values and ideas that helped to resist against the aggression of soviet invaders and local collaborates.
