EUROCLIO has been awarded the 11th prize of the Intercultural Innovation Award, a partnership between the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the BMW Group. EUROCLIO has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the promotion of intercultural understanding and cooperation through the use of innovative methods and tools. EUROCLIO has thereby entered into the World Intercultural Facility for Innovation (WIFI). As a member of the WIFI, EUROCLIO will receive visibility and support in order to scale up and replicate the project. |

The EUROCLIO programme “Historiana – Your portal to the past” has been selected by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe as one of the three World Aware Education Award 2011 winners. The award will be presented to us during the North-South Center Global Education Congress in June 2012. |

EUROCLIO executive-director Joke van der Leeuw-Roord has been a finalists for the World innovation summit for education awards. Ms. Roord was selected due to her leadership throughout the EUROCLIO/Matra project which the panel discribed as outstanding for innovative education. The nomination is a testament to the impact the project had for those involved and the importance placed by the international community on the initiative. The Project Team from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, working together in the EUROCLIO Project ‘History in Action - Planning for the Future’ received in September in, Stockholm, Sweden the second prize of the Euro-Mediterranean Award for Dialogue Between Cultures awarded by the Anna Lind Foundation. The publication from this project "Ordinary People in an Extraordinary Country-, Everyday life in Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia, 1945-1990 Yugoslavia between East and West" received in November the Erasmus EuroMedia Country Medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Erasmus EuroMedia European Seal of Approval for Outstanding Media Publications that Deal with European Values. |

EUROCLIO Executive Director Joke van der Leeuw-Roord was in 2009 twice awarded. In March she received the Huib de Ruyter Award for History Education by the Dutch History Educators Association, VGN. In April she was knighted as Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. Both awards stipulated her important contributions to the national and international quality development of history education and her role in bridging the gab between academics and school education. |
